About

Head of the Department of Education and the Department of Educational Counseling

I have been a senior lecturer in the Department of Educational Counseling (for

graduate students) at the Max Stern Academic College of Emek Yezreel in Israel, since

October 2020. For the past 27 years, I have been deeply involved in treating, studying, and

teaching grief-related topics. My M.A. thesis, supervised by Prof. Simon Shimshon Rubin,

compared parents who lost a child in a motor vehicle accident to those who lost a child

during military service. This novel research demonstrated the differences in social and

governmental recognition between the two groups. In recent years, some progress has been

achieved in this field, and I am happy to report that I have played a role in this change

through my training of teams of informers tasked with conveying the death notification of a

loved one due to a motor vehicle accident.

My PhD thesis, directed by Prof. Rubin and Prof. Rachel Seginer, analyzed the

changing perception of self and the future orientation of parents who lost a child due to

sudden death. The unique quality of the study group lies in the fact that some of its members,

who had emigrated from the former Soviet Union and immigrated to Israel in the hope of a

better future for themselves and their children, eventually lost a child in a terrorist attack.
